Manipulate Actor

Use it!

Used to manipulate an actor relative to the axes defined when the actor was created. Most useful for positioning an actor for keyframing. Also useful for testing an actor's range of motion.

When working with this tool, you can identify the actor graphically, or you can double-click its name in the list box that appears when Display Actor List is on.

Tool SettingEffect
Method

Sets the manipulation method (move, rotate, or scale) and the axis. The available methods are determined when the actor is created.

Distance

(Method set to Move Along X, Move Along Y, and Move Along Z only) If on, sets the distance, in working units, to move the actor along the chosen axis.

Angle

(Method set to Rotate About X, Rotate About Y, and Rotate About Z only) If on, sets the rotation angle, in degrees, about the chosen axis to apply to the actor.

Scale

(Method set to Scale About X, Scale About Y, and Scale About Z only) If on, sets the scale factor to apply to the actor about the chosen axis.

Step

Sets the distance increment, rotation increment, or scale factor increment for graphical manipulations. If Distance, Angle, or Scale is on, this field is disabled (dimmed).

Display Actor List

If on, a list box containing the names of existing actors is displayed. See Working with actors.
