Active Level

Sets the Active Level, the level on which an element is placed, and changes the levels of selected elements. This drop-down list box can also be used to toggle the display of a level in all views and to toggle its lock status.

To toggle the display of a level in all views, it is necessary to click the symbol in the first column of symbols to the right of the level name. A checkmark in this column indicates the level is on; a circle indicates the level is off.

To toggle a level's lock status, it is necessary to click the symbol in the second column of symbols to the right of the level name. A lock icon in this column indicates the level is locked; a circle indicates the level is unlocked.

The third and last column to the right of the level names shows the level's default color for element placement.

Clicking Filter opens the Recall Filter dialog box that is used to apply existing filters.

Key-in: ACTIVE LEVEL [level]

or

Key-in: LV= <level>

The above key-ins do not affect the level attributes of elements in a selection set. Use the Level drop-down list on the Attributes tool box to make level changes to a selection set.

A keyed in level name specification must include the full “path” through the level structure if the name is assigned to more than one level.

The Active Level can also be set in the Level Manager and Level Display dialog boxes.

Choosing Save Settings from the File menu saves the active level setting to the DGN file. Otherwise, it will be returned to its initial value.
