Consists of controls that are used to set preferences related to element selection and identification, the drawing pointer, and level identification.
If on, two MicroStation application windows are opened for the purpose of using MicroStation on a two-screen system.
If on, shows the selected elements in the highlight color rather than with handles. Default is off.
If off (default), the File > Save Settings menu item is enabled. If on, the File > Save Settings menu item is grayed since the settings are saved on exit.
If on, MicroStation automatically saves changes to the DGN file. Default is on.
If off (the default), the active design file is not automatically compressed when closed. The compression operation permanently removes elements marked for deletion.
If on, when you start MicroStation, it automatically displays a design file called “Untitled.dgn”.
If off (the default), when you start MicroStation, it displays the MicroStation Manager dialog box. This is the same dialog box that displays when you choose Close from the File menu.
If on, automatically identifies elements that lose associativity by changing their weight and style. Default is on.
If on (the default), Resetting during a fence manipulation halts the manipulation. Pressing <CTRL-C> halts a fence manipulation regardless of the Reset preference.

If on (the default), fence contents manipulations no longer ignore Level Lock. If off, fence contents manipulations ignore Level Lock.
If on (the default), enables users to maintain closed shapes, solids, and surfaces when clipping those elements that cross the fence boundary. If off, closed shapes, solids, and surfaces are dropped to linear elements when clipped.
Also when on, in conjunction with the Locate By Face preference (in the Input category of the Preferences dialog box), enables users to create associative holes inside closed shapes, solids, and surfaces.
If on, the active level displays across all views.
Sets the amount of memory, in KB, reserved for resources read from MicroStation resource files and application resource files. Default is 1024.
Sets the maximum size, in KB, of the section of memory reserved for data used to display text elements. Default is 256.
