Connect to Database dialog box

Used to connect to an external database from within MicroStation.

Opens when Settings > Database > Connect… is chosen.

Database Server

Sets the database product on which the database is running.

Connect String

Sets additional information needed to make the connection. The syntax is dependent on the chosen Database Server as follows:

Database Server	Connect String syntax
Oracle	<user_name>/<password>@ host name
ODBC	<data_source_name>
OLE DB	<data_source_name>

The Connect String value is equivalent to the string that accompanies an ACTIVE DATABASE (DB=) key-in — for example (Oracle), DB=<user_name>/<password>@host name.

OK

Initiates the connection to the database.

Cancel

Closes the dialog box without initiating a connection.
