Controls alignment of linear dimensions (illustrations drawn with the Dimension Size with Arrow tool):

Aligns linear dimensions |
---|---|---|
View |
|
Parallel to the view x- or y-axis. Useful when dimensioning 3D references with dimensions parallel to the viewing plane. (“Xv” denotes the view x-axis.) |
Drawing |
|
Parallel to the design plane x- or y-axis. The design's rotation determines the alignment axis for a particular dimension. (“Xd” denotes the design plane x-axis.) |
True |
|
Parallel to the element being dimensioned. The extension lines are at right angles to the dimension line. |
Arbitrary (2D only) |
|
Parallel to the element being dimensioned. The extension lines are not constrained to be at right angles to the dimension line. This is useful when dimensioning elements in 2D “isometric” drawings. |
Key-in: DIMENSION AXIS [ARBITRARY | DRAWING | TRUE | VIEW]
Controls the location of dimension text:
Automatic — Dimension text is automatically placed according to the Justification setting.
Semi-Automatic — Dimension text is automatically placed according to the Justification setting if the text fits between the extension lines. If the text does not fit, you position the text in response to a prompt.
Manual — You position dimension text in response to a prompt.
Key-in: DIMENSION PLACEMENT [AUTO | MANUAL | SEMIAUTO]
If on, the dimension line and text are dynamically moved and the extension lines are dynamically extended if there is insufficient space to fit the dimension text without overlaying existing dimension text.
If on, dimensions display the true size of referenced geometry. This option only applies when dimensioning elements in a scaled reference.
Key-in: DIMENSION FILE [ACTIVE | REFERENCE]
If on, a dimension line is relative, so that it moves when the base of the first extension line is moved; the length of the extension line remains constant.
If off, a dimension line stays in the same place when the first extension line is moved; the length of the extension line changes.
Sets the scale for annotation in the model.
Sets the size, in working units, of the center mark in radial dimensions.
