Raster Options dialog box

Used to adjust the printing settings for raster references. These settings are not saved in the printer driver (.plt) file; they are used for the current print only.

Parameters set via this dialog box correspond directly to raster controls in the printer driver file. Valid ranges for some settings, however, are not identical to the printer driver records. This permits consistency with the Raster Manager user interface while maintaining compatibility with legacy printer driver files.

Quality Factor

Sets the percent of the printer's resolution capability that Raster Manager will take advantage of when printing raster images. A value of 50 means that Raster Manager will print an image on a 600 dpi printer as if it were only 300 dpi. Lower quality settings print faster and generate smaller plot files. Higher quality settings print slower and create larger plot files.

Values from 1 to 100 inclusive may be keyed in to the text field, or set via the slide control.

Key-in: print rasopt quality <1 to 100>

The Quality Factor is a user interface concept only. Internally, the value is stored as a pixels-per-inch resolution setting; the same as the PIXEL_RESOLUTION record in the printer driver file.

Brightness

Sets the brightness for the display of raster image files referenced to the model. No changes are made to the original raster file. Setting the brightness to a value greater than zero increases the brightness. Setting the brightness to a value less than zero decreases the brightness.

Values from –100 to 100 inclusive may be keyed in to the text field, or set via the slide control.

Key-in: print rasopt brightness <-100 to 100>

The -100 to 100 range for Brightness is a user-interface concept only. Internally, the value is stored in the same 0-100 range as used by the corresponding record in the printer driver file.

Contrast

Sets the contrast for the display of raster image files referenced to the model. No changes are made to the original raster file. Setting the contrast to a value greater than zero increases the contrast. Setting the contrast to a value less than zero decreases the contrast.

Values from –100 to 100 inclusive may be keyed in to the text field, or set via the slide control.

Key-in: print rasopt contrast <-100 to 100>

The -100 to 100 range for Contrast is a user-interface concept only. Internally, the value is stored in the same 0-100 range as used by the corresponding record in the printer driver file.

Monochrome background

Sets the color of the background for monochrome raster references when printed.

Key-in: print rasopt background <0 | 1 | 2>

Maximum print colors

Used to reduce output raster color depth in situations where plot file size is more important than print quality. The recommended setting is Unlimited. Binary or 256 should not be used unless output file size is a critical problem. Foreground/background inversion and transparency issues may yield unacceptable results if color images are dithered to binary bitmaps at print time. Such conversions are best done through Raster Manager before printing. Results are dependent on the printer driver. For example, many drivers output 8-bit color as RGB. In those cases lowering the maximum color depth to 256 will reduce quality without creating a smaller output file. You can use the following key-in to set the maximum print colors, where 0 is unlimited, 1 is binary, and 8 is 256 colors.

Key-in: PRINT RASOPT Maxcolordepth <0 | 1 | 8>

Print raster references

If on, raster references are printed.

Key-in: print refraster <on | off>

Print raster references in grayscale

If on, raster references are printed in grayscale.

Key-in: print rasopt grayscale <on | off>

Print raster references on the fly

If on, lets you print files containing raster references that normally would not fit entirely into the printer's memory.

Key-in: print rasopt onthefly <on | off>

Honor transparency in raster references

Lets you ignore any transparency that may be specified for Raster Manager attachments. Many printer drivers cannot handle transparency directly; and dealing with it typically results in large print files. If raster transparency is enabled, but not needed, setting this checkbox may result in more efficient plotting.

Key-in: print rasopt transparency <on | off>

Print type 87/88 raster elements

If on, prevents imported DGN rasters from printing. It does not affect Raster Manager attachments.

Key-in: print dgnraster <on | off>
