General

Contains controls that are used to set the view and whether to draw rule lines, intersections, or hidden edges.

These controls are available on the Export Visible Edges and Hidden Line Settings dialog boxes.

View

(Export Visible Edges only) Sets the view that determines the orientation of the visible edges.

Boundary

(Export Visible Edges only) Sets the boundary of the exported visible edges DGN file.

• Design File
— The entire DGN file is exported.

• View
— The view contents of the selected View are exported.

• Fence
— If a fence is placed, the fence contents are exported. Not available if there is no fence.

Method

Selects the method of computing the visible edges or hidden lines:

• Trace Edges
— (Export Visible Edges only) Displays all unique edges of a DGN in your export file. If more than one edge is duplicated or stacked such that they appear as a single edge in the view, only the closest edge is exported.

• Exact
— Computes the visible edges using an exact method that requires a substantially larger amount of time. This option automatically removes stacked edges. If one or more edges are on top of each other, only the one closest to the eye is exported.

• Fast
— (Export Visible Edges only) Computes the visible edges quickly, but makes some approximations.

• SmartSolids
— This method produces an output similar to the Exact method, and is recommended when working with smart solid models.

Rule Lines

If on, internal gridding is drawn on surfaces.

Calculate Intersections

If on, intersections between elements are automatically calculated.

This significantly increases the time required to generate visible edges. Off is the default.

Process Text and Dimensions

If off, text and dimensions are displayed without any test for visibility; they show independently of the depth in view. The default is on.

Include Hidden Edges

If on, hidden edges are drawn.

Include Hidden Edges

The Hidden tab has controls to set the Level, Color, Line Style, or Line Weight of the hidden edges.

The Visible tab has controls to set the Color, Line Style, or Line Weight of the smooth edges.
