Attach Raster Reference dialog box

Used to attach raster references to the active design file. Opens when File > Attach is selected in the Raster Manager dialog box, or when the Attach tool is selected in the Raster Control tool box. Raster attachments can be attached in a Raster Reference. It is now possible to select the foreground color and transparent background of a monochrome raster in the Attach Raster Reference dialog box. The raster preview will reflect the foreground color selected.

Files list box

Used to select the file to open.

Multiple selections are allowed. If more than one file is selected, however, the Place Interactively toggle is disabled. Also disabled is the Logical Name field (these may be modified later via the Attachment Settings dialog box, which you can open from the Raster Manager dialog box by choosing Settings > Attachment).

Directories list box

Used to select the directory from which the raster image files are selected.

List Files of Type

Option menu to set the type of files to display in the Files list box.

Drives

Used to select the source drive or an MSI server.

Raster Preview

If ON, a preview of the selected file is displayed in the preview window. When more than one file is selected, the last file added to the multiple selection is previewed.

View

Numbered push buttons let you define in which view(s) to display the raster image(s).

Logical Name

(Disabled if more than one file selected) Lets you define a logical name for the attached file. This information is lost when the file is detached.

When an image is attached a second time, and the logical name already exists, a message displays in the Message Center informing you that duplicate names are not allowed.

When there are no logical name specified, for the multiple attachments of the same file, then a logical name is generated automatically. This consists of the filename to which a number is appended. For example, if the file “terrain.tif” is attached twice, without logical names specified, the second attachment's logical name defaults to “terrain_2”.

Description

Lets you add a description to an attachment. If the file's data contains a description, then, by default, this text appears in the field. Data from this field is saved with the attachment.

Place Interactively

(Disabled if more than one file selected) If ON, lets you place the image interactively, with two data points. The number of rows and columns, and the aspect ratio of the image, are preserved. The image's pixel size is modified to fit the rectangle.

Rotation and Affinity values are not applied to image(s) when attached with the “Place Interactively” toggle set to ON.

Temporary Attachment

If on, the attachment is temporary and applies only to the current design session. Putting this toggle to on also opens the image in read-only mode. If you exit MicroStation then the temporary attachment is lost.

Open Raster Files Read-Only

If on, the raster is opened in read-only mode. It defaults to the values specified in the Raster Manager category in the Workspace > Preferences menu. By changing the status of this toggle, the preferences will automatically be updated.
